Mango Flavoured Curry


1 medium sized ripe mango

2 cups water

1 tbsp gram flour

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp ginger-chilli paste

1 tsp chilli powder

Salt to taste

1/2 cup beaten yogurt

For tempering

1 tbsp ghee

3-4 (each) cinnamon sticks and cloves

5-6 curry leaves

1/2 tsp cumin seeds

1 green chilli, broken

To Garnish

Finely-chopped coriander


1. Peel and cut the mango. Add half a cup of water and churn in a blender. Pass it through a sieve to get a smooth puree.

2. Add water, gram flour, sugar, ginger-chilli paste, chilli powder and salt. Mix well. Heat ghee in a thick saucepan; add all the tempering ingredients and then add the mango mixture.

3. Bring to a boil. Simmer for five to ten minutes. Add beaten yogurt and mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
