Ujjayi Pranayama
Sit
erect in any comfortable meditative position. Inhale slowly and deeply through
both the nostrils with a low uniform frictional sound through the glottis and
expand the chest. Hold the breath after inhalation. With the same continuation
of frictional sound, exhale through both the nostrils.
It
helps in insomnia, hypertension, allergies, cold and tonsils. It removes phlegm
from the throat and improves lung capacity. It tones up and gives soothing
effect to the nervous system and improves supply of oxygen useful for persons
with high blood pressure.
