Yogurt Rice


2 cups raw rice, washed and soaked in water

2 tbsp oil or ghee

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

3-4 green chillies, chopped

1/2 inch piece ginger, chopped

A few curry leaves

3 ½ cups yogurt

3-4 tbsps milk

Salt to taste

To Serve

Spicy Lemon Pickle


1. Cook rice in four cups of water with little salt until soft and set aside. Heat oil or ghee and fry mustard seeds, green chillies, ginger and curry leaves.

2. Mash rice slightly and pour fried spices over it. Beat yogurt with little salt and mix with rice.

3. Add milk and mix thoroughly. Serve with lemon pickle.
